Sports Development Thanet

We have recently been awarded 2 years funding from Comic Relief-Sport for Change. This is to pilot a project on the Isle of Thanet for 2 years in partnership with Thanet Leisure Force. The project aims to improve and widen the inclusion of people with learning disabilities/difficulties in mainstream sport.

The project will:

Carry out research and mystery shopping.
Support people with learning disabilities/difficulties to access mainstream sport.
Offer free sport taster sessions.
Co-deliver training for sports and leisure staff.
Support people to access work opportunities.
Offer vocational training and external qualifications.
Work with young people to volunteer alongside people with learning disabilities/difficulties.
Have 2 large events to demonstrate how people with learning disabilities/difficulties can and should be involved equally in mainstream sport.
