Social EventsSocial Evenings

People want to live the same kind of life as anyone else, which includes going to college, getting a job, having relationships, friendships and enjoying leisure and social activities.

Some people with learning difficulties have had limited chances to socialise. This is often because people do not have the right support when they are out and also because public transport is not always accessible.

People within the Skillnet Group are organising different social evenings and events which are open to everyone. People are supported to meet in Canterbury on a regular basis. This might include going out to eat, going to the pub, visiting museums and other local places.

Social EveningsWe are also hoping to develop this in other areas including, Swale, Dover and Folkestone.

Some people with disabilities find it difficult to meet in a social setting. We will support people with learning disabilities to develop new skills and have more opportunities to meet different people and experience different things. People will then gain the confidence to do those things without support.
