District Partnership Groups And The Kent Partnership Board
What are the District Partnership Groups?
The Kent Partnership Board was set up following the Government White Paper Valuing People.
In Kent we have 12 District Partnership Groups. The District Partnership Groups meet to discuss local issues and make decisions on how to fund local projects. People with learning difficulties and lots of people from different agencies and services come along for example:
- Self Advocates (people with learning difficulties)
- Families and Carers
- Social Services
- Local Council
- Housing Organisations
- Transport Organisations
- Education Organisations
- Local Businesses
- Residential Services
But anyone is welcome to come.
The 12 District Partnership Groups report back to the Kent Partnership Board every four months through their elected joint chairs.
After listening to the representatives from each district the Kent Partnership Board sets the agenda for the coming year and decide how much money is available to spend in each district.
Below is a diagram of how the District Partnership Groups relate to each other.
What Work Has The Skillnet Group Been Doing With The District Partnership Group?
This has involved supporting people with a learning difficulty to be fully involved and take the lead in these meetings. We have also supported the Joint Chairs across Kent to meet and prepare for the Kent Partnership Board. We have supported people to develop and run the District Partnership Group Planning Groups and Money Groups. The Skillnet Group supports people with learning difficulties to write a newsletter for the Swale, Dover and Thanet District Partnership Groups.
