Dawn

Real Lives | Dawn's Story

I went to boarding school. When I finished at school they enrolled me in a resource centre. I did not progress very much.

Then I heard about Skillnet Group. When I started at Skillnet Group they gave me opportunities to work voluntarily and to be paid.

I have now got a qualification in Life Skills. I worked as a Decision Team Officer for a year and I got paid for that.

IndependanceI work on the Schools project and we are paid to show our presentation to schools on how we want to be treated.

I have also worked with Skillnet on Life Choices which has made it possible for me to look at independent living for the first time. I go to meetings and talk about the experiences I have had trying to become more independent.

I have worked on Being Seen Being Heard. We have been paid to show our presentation at Doctors surgeries about how we want them to treat us and talk to us.
