Sam's Story

My name is Sam. I live with my partner and we have two children. My little girl is 10 years old and my little boy is 2 years old. I used to have a part–time job before I stopped work to look after my little boy.

I have a learning difficulty. When I was at school I was bullied by the other children. I left college because the teachers did not understand how to treat me because they never asked me what I needed.

Now that I am older and live my own life, people just treat me like anyone else. They don’t always ask me about my abilities because they can’t see them.

I left home 10 years before my older brother and he hasn’t got a learning difficulty.
