Schools Project

This is our team: The Schools Project Team

Some of us have not always been treated very well. We decided to make a presentation to show at schools. We want people to understand how we feel.

Our presentation is called: How we want to be treated

When we go to schools we talk about

  • Our experiences
  • Equal rights
  • Personal space
  • Being individuals
  • How we want to be treated

Dover District CouncilOur presentation is interactive. We get people to join in and we have a quiz at the end. We have now made a short film as well.

We want everyone to get to know us as people
We have some funding from the Dover District Partnership Board and a Dover Councillor This pays our wages when we give the presentations in the Dover area.

The School Project Team meets once a week on Fridays’ in Dover.

  • We work on our presentation
  • We practise what we will say
  • We phone schools and make appointments to give our presentation
  • We keep a budget

We have shown our presentation and our short film at:

  • Dover Grammar School for Girls
  • Sir Roger Manwood’s Grammar School
  • Aspen 1 – Primary School
  • Aspen 2 – Secondary School
  • Guston primary School
  • Green Park Primary School
  • Lydden primary School
  • East Langdon Primary School
  • White Cliffs Primary School
  • Northbourne Primary School
  • Walmer Centre
  • Dover District partnership Board Meetings
  • Skillnet Group Decision Team Meetings
  • Health Service Visitors from Greece

We have presented at some of the schools more than once. We have been welcomed and everyone has really joined in and enjoyed themselves. After they have seen our presentation most people get all the questions right in our quiz.

The Future

Phone UsWe would also like to talk to people about becoming more independent. We have filmed some of us moving into new flats and Paul has made a Photostory. We would like to tell post sixteen students what it was like. We are going to talk to secondary schools about Making English Real.
