Open College Network Courses

In 2007 we were approved as a centre to deliver courses accredited by the Open College Network. This means that we can develop our own courses and they can be accredited as recognised qualifications.

People have been involved in developing these courses and have decided what they want to learn.

In all of our courses people are supported to plan and gather evidence in the way they choose.

When people complete courses we support them to progress into many different areas, such as: voluntary work, paid work inside and outside of the Skillnet Group, other courses at college and adult education and independent living.

Everything we do is aimed at supporting people to be as independent as possible and be equal citizens in the community. That does not mean people do not have support but does mean that people make their own choices and can access mainstream services and support.

People are currently developing other courses that we hope to be supporting people to achieve in the near future, such as: performing arts, catering,  healthy living and horticulture.
